What is the NDIS?

Overview

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides funding for eligible people to receive disability supports from NDIS providers.

Who is eligible?

You may be eligible if:

  • you are between 7 and 65 years of age;
  • you are an Australian citizen or permanent resident or hold a special category visa;
  • you have a permanent and significant disability for which you need frequent support; and
  • your condition affects your ability for social and economic participation.

What can I do with NDIS?

Your NDIS plan may give you the funding for:

  • Support for your daily life (e.g. self-care, attending appointments, and more);
  • Support to engage in social and community activities (e.g. going to the movies, bowling, theme parks, etc.);
  • Supports in education and employment;
  • Living arrangements (e.g. specialist disability accommodation (SDA), supported independent living (SIL));
  • Support to increase independence and build capacity;
  • Allied health services (e.g. psychology, speech pathology, etc.);
  • Other supports to promote health and wellbeing.

How do I apply for NDIS?

The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) will assess your eligibility to become a NDIS participant. You'll need to complete and return an Access Request Form with your GP or specialist. If you're eligible, you'll then participate in an initial planning meeting with the NDIA to determine what funding should be included in your NDIS plan.

We understand that applying for NDIS can be difficult, so we're here to help you every step of the way. Contact us to discuss your potential eligibility and begin application.
